Cold Coffee

Coffee, a drink made from the roasted and ground seeds of African-origin tropical evergreen coffee plants. Coffee is one of the three most popular (along with water and tea) drinks in the world and one of the most lucrative foreign commodities. While coffee is the source of an endless range of drinks, its popularity is primarily due to its invigorating effect created by caffeine, an alkaloid found in coffee.

Iced coffee is a type of coffee beverage served chilled, brewed differently with cold brew as the fundamental division-brewing the coffee cold, creating a different taste, and not needing cooling-or normally brewing and then cooling, typically simply pouring over ice or into ice cold milk.

We generally think about coffee as its ability to provide an energy boost. According to some studies, however, some other major health benefits can also be offered, such as a lower risk of liver cancer , type 2 diabetes, and heart failure.

Various health benefits and health risks have been linked with coffee consumption. However moderate intake of three to four cups a day is commonly associated with a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease , type 2 diabetes, liver cancer, and Parkinson’s disease. Research has also related the intake of moderate coffee to a longer life span.

Sleep disturbances, anxiety, jittery feelings, and heartburn may be caused by excessive coffee consumption. A causative correlation between coffee and cancer was indicated by studies conducted in the 20th century. However, in 2016 , the World Health Organization (WHO) removed coffee from the list of potential carcinogens after a possible causative link between coffee intake and cancer was refuted by several studies.

Cold coffee is a shake made with milk, sugar and by mixing coffee. It is a popular cold drink enjoyed by many people during hot summers and very much in demand.

The majority of folks now know how to make a cold coffee. Here in this post, I share the way I make cold coffee, which gives a good frothy layer of flavored coffee on top. You get in cafe outlets like coffee coffee day, just like cold coffee.

We are tea drinkers at home and not coffee drinkers. The South Indian style Filter coffee and this cold coffee are the only drinks we want with coffee.

In this cold coffee recipe, I have not used ice cream as most of the times I make it this way. And there may or may not be any vanilla ice cream at home.

Coffee, milk and hot water are generally beaten with a spoon when preparing coffee drinks, until the concoction becomes light & frothy.

I used the hand mixer / beater here to do the same work. It makes the shake much better with this frothy coffee concoction, than when you just mix it all with help of spoon or whisk.

I use instant coffee powder which we generally use at our home to make normal coffee. You can also use some ground coffee beans to make the decoction. You’ll need to heat the water for this. Then brew out with South Indian coffee philtre or even through a percolator or French press.

Rest of the process remains same. Do enjoy this simple and tasty recipe.

Right away, serve cold coffee as it is made. You may also add an ice cream scoop if you have vanilla ice cream or chocolate ice cream or ice cream with a choco chip. Or you can try out this milkshake coffee recipe, where ice cream is added to cold coffee.
